Takure Rice Straw Basket
$20.00Price
The (beautifully imperfect) Takure Rice Straw Baskets were handwoven by a woman named SanuKanchi in the rural Sindupalchok district of Nepal. Being located in the center of Nepal, in the foothills of the Himalaya, this region has a large variety of agricultural products and is known for farmers producing goods from the by-products of their crops such as corn husks and rice hulls. SanuKanchi was raised weaving but became eager and passionate about it only after hurting her foot working in her fields. She wanted to earn income and pass the time productively as she can no longer do it by farming so she now spends her time perfecting her craft.
