Humla Traditionally Woven Cushion Cover

These pillow covers were handwoven by a small mom and son owned business, Humla Handmade.  They've taken traditonal style backstrap weaving from their hometown of rural Thehe, Humla and are creating modern textiles from only sustainable products. The materials are sourced locally, and naturally dyed before twisting, steaming, and weaving the threads into beautiful works of art.
 
Humla lies is in the far west remote Himalaya bordering the Tibetan plateau. Due to its high elevation villages it is known for its animal husbandry, trade, and utilization of fur in the weaving of rugs, blankets, and coats, to keep warm, but more modern uses of crops such as hemp and cotton are also being woven into goods.
