Beth Basco Coaster

This coaster is made from a type of bamboo the Nepalese call 'Beth' which grows in the Tarrai, a region in the south that runs from all the way east to west. It's known for its sprawling flatlands and jungles and therefore grasses such as elephant grass, sea grass, and bamboo (also a grass!).  The locals have utilized these resources to create useful goods for centuries. Beth in particular is known for its bend-ability and therefore is commonly used in furniture and craft making. The artisan thinly slices poles into very long but narrow splits, and then bends them into place to create these coasters for your drinks.
